North Putnam Community Schools SRO, James Collings, started the D.A.R.E. program with Mr. Lutes' 5th grade students today. Officer Collings will be leading this program for all of Bainbridge Elementary 5th graders over the next several weeks.
D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is the highly acclaimed program that gives kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence.
D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives. We are so thankful for Officer Collings.

Today in Mrs. Rambis' first grade classroom, her students were using toothpicks and marshmallows to create 2-D shapes. The students were collaborating together to create the different shapes, and then they had to determine the number of sides and vertices for each shape. Great job Mrs. Rambis' class!

We would like to give a HUGE shoutout to three 5th grade students for the work they do on a daily basis here at Bainbridge Elementary. These three students, Carson Sutherlin, Austin Nickerson, and Sam Huff, do a great job of putting up and taking down our American Flag everyday. We can always count on them to get this job done. Thank you very much, and we really appreciate the job that you three do everyday.

Ms. Kinkead's third class was able to celebrate National Popcorn Day. The students read about the history of popcorn and learned the science behind how popcorn pops. Then they learned the story behind the business of FancyPants popcorn out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They had 8 of their popcorn flavors to sample, and then they did a taste test to determine each flavor. After the taste test, they created a bar graph of their favorite flavors and their least favorite flavors as well. Finally, each student wrote a thank you letter to FancyPants Popcorn and they ended their popcorn celebration doing a guided drawing of a box of popcorn!
